It's true, Melissa. It's not okay to walk away from ekklesia. How can we love God and not love what He loves? When I left the church I had gone to for 7.5 years, it was insanely difficult to remember why it's important to be a part of a family at all. Church requires relationships with people - people that are imperfect and don't have everything figured out yet. When that imperfection gets directed towards you, it's difficult to not let bitterness and hurt take over. It's difficult to not want to protect yourself, to run and hide. And that's why it's important to remember that our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against spiritual things that would rob us of our faith. And that, no matter what, the promises in the Bible will always be true and it will always be worth it to make the sacrifices to love God AND his church.

Great wisdom in those words...but so very tough to live out. God is doing such an incredible work in you and you are indeed growing and bearing fruit. Awesome!!

I love that last part, "...all those things are more important than me being right..." - so very true for all of us!

Thanks for the challenge...I'll look forward to your next "quiet thought!"

I wrote an email to this same group, received a very kind response, and a free book which helped me get through a time of "shattered trust". (We are not attending a church....)
It's hard to believe that was over 3 years ago! I can now say with assurance... The Lord worked it all for good.

I think it is a good thing when you realize that you can really depend on nothing but God. I mean that in a good way. Less of me, more of Him. "On Christ the Solid Rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand." I think He is taking us all to that place eventually if we will just take the time to seek, observe and listen. It is all about living "in Him" as He lives "in us." Have a good day, Mel.

few people are able (or willing) to share the thoughts & emotions held tightly inside. not only are you able to find the words, but you shine a bright light on all of what makes you "you"...what makes you human. your testimony is powerful & relatable...& i wish you love.strength.wisdom.courage...it can't hurt to carry a little more around w/ya. <3
