16 Hour Days

I currently work PRN at our local hospital. I usually work 24-32hours a week, and I work those hours in a couple of days. People I work with seem to think I’m a little batty, but I love the freedom of being home 5 days a week. I love that I’ve flipped my work week. Instead of working 5 and being off 2, I work 2 and I’m off 5.

I just got home from working 16 hours and it was a crazy day. Even though it was crazy it makes me even more determined to continue down this path. I realize every day when I walk out of those doors that it can become so easy to get wrapped up in your work life. I’ve thought a lot about my options, I’m certainly not retired or staying at home full time. I also know at this time in my life I must work because of the financial part of it. I also work because I love being a nurse and I enjoy taking care of people.

I think what I like the most is that I’ve taken the emphasis off my job and placed it where it should be. (Hopefully that translates into me being a better nurse as well.) If I allow it work can block out so many of the important things in life or cause them to be put on the back burner. I’m grateful that this job enables me to work the way I need to right now at this point in my life.

So for now this is my road less traveled and it has made all the difference.

    Welcome to the blogosphere!

Have you seen RV? We watched it last night. If you want to stay home full-time and still have income (apparently twice what I make), you can always sell musical horns!
